Just can resist the urge to brag about my home town. I moved to La Verne when I was in 3rd grade and have great memories of running through the orange groves, flying kites in the street and playing ball in the empty fields with the neighborhood kids. Sure is nice to see that one of my former neighbors is now the Mayor!

Okay, so today it a new beginning. Chuck and I have decided to tackle Joyce Vedral’s 12-Minute Workout Program together. We just finished the first day program. Follow along and let us know how you are doing and we will do the same.

My cousin recently shared this photo on Facebook and I was so tickled by it that asked the photographer for permission to share it on my web page. It just goes to show you that where there is a will there is a way, yes?

However, if you are looking for a more conventional means of transporting your pets or wildlife, you can find all types of carriers at Amazon.

In spite of the grammatical error in the title, I just couldn’t pass up sharing this video. The cynic in me keeps thinking the turned the camera off before the finally. The optimist wants to believe it is an example the all things are possible.

Big day today… Jamie (Chuck’s daughter) and Tim are getting married! Hoping that the rain will pass over and skies will clear before 2!

One of the things I have done in a effort to keep focused and be productive is to add Google Calender to my schedule.  My time on the internet as over the years brought friends on the other side of the globe, both personal and professional so when I decided to add the official holidays to that calendar I opted to also add the Australian holidays to my calendar.

Here it is Labor Day and the stores are nearly empty of summer goods.  Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas items are filling up the shelves.  All this makes December 12th just that much closer.  So what  is so important about December 12th?  It certainly isn’t a national holiday but, for Chuck and I, it will be a day of celebration.  That’s if folks, our last day of employment for the city.

Retirement.  The closer it gets the more we explore the meaning of that word.  Our first questions centered around economics.  Looking at the years, the percentages, the bills.  Asking over and over, can we afford to take a 30% cut in our income?  The honest answer is no, probably not, but we aren’t likely to be better prepared to do so in another year or even five years.  Like most of this nation, we live at the edge of our means.  From paycheck to paycheck, with not much of a cushion.  Retirement  for us will mean living a little less extravagantly.
