Our first social adventure in San Felipe took place at Brian’s Beach Bar & Grill under the direction of Denny Flannigan, host of San Felipe’s famous Name That Tune competitions (in it’s third season). I must admit, both of us nearly passed on this event. Baja has turned us both into very lazy folks! Imagine, even the thought of going out and having fun sounded like too much work!
************
But in the end, we did drag ourselves out of the house after dark and made the nine mile drive to Playa del Oro and Brian’s. Arriving about 6:25 we found the place was already nearly full. Most folks seem to have come early for dinner. We opted for a table by ourselves, not ready to commit to playing the game. However, by the time the play had reached our side of the restaurant we had caught the bug and joined up with a nearby foursome who called themselves the Score Light team.
************
Team Score Light started off slow, tied for 5th at half time but Chuck shined when the song selections moved up to the 70′s and another teammate (Sharon?) was strong on the 80′s (she was young enough to have been there). We made a strong comeback in the second half and ended up in 3rd place! Our thanks to Jimmy, Mike, Sharon and Sandy (forgive if I messed up the names please) for letting us join in on the fun and their team.
************
I haven’t seen the pictures yet and I may regret mentioning the whole thing once I do, but honest, we had only two drinks a piece and Chuck never won the shots of Tequila on the face offs.

Nice blog and fun to have you guys play.. I think by the end of the evening we all win. See you again when you have the energy. If your just into sitting back listening to music, I have a new CD that Arturo from Tres Generations and I have been working on for the last 3 years. It’s lots of fun and you can get it from the website, one of us at Name That Tune or any number of retailers around town. It’s a fun memento of life in San Felipe. Enjoy this wonderful weather. If it was any nicer, it would involve an air conditioning bill…

We sure had a blast playing Name That Tune with Denny. Wish we were in San Felipe now so we could be doing it regularly! Unfortunately we are stuck in (not Lodi) Chico til May.
